Out of court settlement achieved for couple injured in car accident
The couple were travelling together as passengers when the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle on a roundabout in Sheffield.
Both passengers sustained whiplash injuries but thankfully made a full recovery.
The defendant’s insurers admitted liability for the accident but refused to make a compensation payment to our clients. We were left with no option but to start court proceedings to try and help the couple recover compensation.
A few weeks before the scheduled trial date, the defendant’s insurers offered to pay £1,000 each to our clients. The couple accepted the offer, meaning there was no need to go to court.
Nicola Meese, a specialist in road accident claims, said: “This was an unusual case in that the defendant’s insurers accepted responsibility for the accident but refused to pay compensation. We try and settle cases out-of-court where possible but in this case felt we had no choice but to issue court proceedings in a bid to secure the compensation that our clients deserved. Thankfully we managed to agree settlements without going to trial.”
