Man sustains multiple injuries following road traffic accident
Our road traffic accident experts have helped a man to recover compensation after he was involved in a crash on the A65 when he was travelling towards Whitby with friends.
At the time of the accident, it was raining heavily and the car that he was travelling in hit a puddle and skidded into a metal barrier. Both the driver of the vehicle and our client lost consciousness on impact.
Our client was taken to York Hospital by the emergency services, where he required emergency surgery on his left leg. He also required pins inserting into his left hip, a metal bar in his lower left leg and a metal plate into his left knee.
The man sustained two broken ribs, a broken left shoulder, a broken left collar bone, a broken left thigh bone and sustained a head injury.
Our client was dependent on crutches, and struggled to move around his home. He required help with washing, dressing, cooking and his normal daily activities. He returned to hospital for the removal of the metalwork in his leg some months later.
The injuries our client sustained and subsequent treatment he needed meant he could not work for a year. With the help of Cathryn Godfrey in the Serious Injury team in Leeds, we helped the man to recover £30,000 in compensation for the accident.
