Cyclist receives six figure compensation following road traffic accident
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist road traffic accident team have successfully recovered compensation for a cyclist who sustained a head injury when she was knocked off her bicycle by a car which turned into her path, not far from her home.
The cyclist who was aged 72 at the time of the accident sustained a life threatening head injury. The Defendant was convicted of careless driving and admitted liability early on thus enabling her legal team to secure early interim payments to fund rehabilitation at home. The Defendant did however raise arguments in relation to the client’s failure to wear a cycle helmet.
The client has made a remarkable recovery given the extent of her injury which has left her with cognitive and personality changes as well as memory and fatigue problems.
